Google has started releasing new ‘health & safety’ business attributes related to COVID-19 in some Google My Business (GMB) accounts.
These new attributes began appearing on Tuesday, September 9th for some businesses in their Google My Business dashboard. They haven’t shown up yet in Google Search and Maps but presumably will soon.
The new attributes help local businesses provide clarity and reassurance to potential customers that safety protocols are in place.
Note: Business attributes on GMB are category dependent and so these new health & safety attributes probably won’t show up for all categories. However, these attributes were expected and consistent with the numerous COVID-related changes and features Google has introduced.
These attributes may help local businesses see more engagement or an improved response from consumers who want to do business with them but want to confirm that COVID-19 safety measures are in place.
